So what will happen now? This is written on Friday the 13th of December 2019 immediately after the general election.
Having just digested the news this morning, the promise that there will be a meaningful push to get through the Brexit gridlock and economic uncertainty feels like a breath of fresh air.
My crystal ball suggests that the Norwich property market will now enter “Christmas mode” and things will go quiet over the festive break.
However, there will be many conversations started and more likely, continued, about an imminent property move over the turkey and stuffing in the next two weeks or so. Many families have held off a move over the past few years and in a number of circumstances my best advice has been to hang on till early next year when we had hoped for this clarity.
I believe as with many years in the past we will see an enormous spike of interest on Rightmove at Christmas. This will be a bit of a shame because as these newcomers to the marketplace search for an option for their next move they will be slightly disheartened as there will be limited stock for them to choose from! This will change as it always does in the new year and with the start of a new decade!
I believe as we start next year, that the new stock will reinvigorate the marketplace and as we have seen before a surge of potential buyers will present themselves chasing this newly available feast of homes.
As more certainty comes in the way of trade deals and negotiations we will see more buyers and sellers dipping a toe in the concept of a move.
I don’t want to sound to grandiose but this could be the start to a new day!
