HOW TO REDUCE STRESS WHEN MOVING HOME
I often get asked advice on how best to move home but recently I was asked how to minimise stress when moving home which is an extremely interesting concept. These are my top tips for doing so.
Tip 1. Before moving to market, declutter, and think about your potential audience, making sure the property is well presented, clean and tidy with gardens in a kempt order. The reason for this is that it’s much easier to keep the house looking this way when you start from a “show home beginning”.
Tip 2. Be aware of where you want to move to and what kind of home you want… but please try not to fall in love with your next property before you have an offer on yours, its ideal to have a short list of properties to view but I would recommend holding off regular viewings until you are reasonably progressed in your own sale.
Tip 3. Talk to us if you are struggling with your negotiations on your onward purchase, we are always here to give help and advice as well as guidance and critique in some cases on your next home, we can help you to read the situation better as we are a step back and may be able to see the wood for the trees easier.
Tip 4. Use a local independent solicitor, we can recommend some to you. You may pay an extra £50 on the eventual bill but you will save a lot of time, aggravation, additional stress and potentially grey hair! having a solicitor who is not as proactive.
Tip 5. This is probably the most important one and will minimise your stress the most. Please try not to get wrapped up in move dates too early. The sales process can take anything from four weeks to six months dependant upon length of the chain, the complexities and the enquiries that are raised. We will guide you through the process and give you key dates where you can start to work out your next steps, but trying to make it happen before the legal process can allow will only add to your woes.
If you have any specific questions about the sales process and how to minimise the heartache that can be ensuing during this process then please do give us a call on 01603 432000 and we will be pleased to help.
