The nature of a bungalow is that it is land hungry and will generally have a reasonable sized plot… but does this mean that it is a good idea to convert a bungalow into a chalet?
The first things to take into consideration are the surrounding properties and the demand for such a property in the area.
In my experience I have seen numerous bungalows converted to chalets in a location where there is more demand for a bungalow due to geographical demand from mature purchasers and, as such, chalets can be an objection as the staircase becomes a problem for those that cannot manage it.
The other thing to consider when thinking of converting a property into a chalet is that it is essential there is plumbing on the first floor. I, over the years, have come across numerous properties which have struggled to sell as there is no cloakroom close to the bedrooms.
Chalets tend to be more suitable for families but always take into consideration the potential for low ceiling heights and dormer windows which if not presented in the right way can offer further physical objections from a cerb appeal point of view.
